Away for weekend

We managed a weekend away even with heaps of gardening work that needs to be done. We drove down to Waiwera to stay at the YMCA camp put on by the Haemophilia society.
After the amazing heat wave and me just about melting onto the floor we have gone round to a nice temperature and rain.

So Pat and Selwyn I think we've had about 90mm of rain possibly more as the rain gauge didn't go far enough. Rain has pretty much filled our tanks up again which is great. So with hope you've not lost too many plants. I know in our garden we've lost a few trees...but that's just the way it goes.

At the camp I'd packed our bags for heat. I just managed to throw in too many blankets and jumpers for us all (the girl guide in me?) but I didn't think to pack major rain gear. While we missed out on orienteering Dave managed to get into some kayaking (was very cold but seemed to be having fun). Dave was just saying last night at how he kept wondering why his tummy felt sore and then realised that it was from kayaking...he needs to do some more ;-) When all the Dad's have not got their hands so fill with babies ;-)

Next Bub has been very wriggly and keeping me awake most nights. I've tried to get Ara to take a photo of me but the coordination between eyes and finger is not there yet.
As the camp was at Waiwera we had many hours in the hot pools which was wonderful. Ara has learnt to float with her flutter wings, while the Bub was treated to a very relaxed Mum while I tried floating different ways...heaven.

So we missed out on the bush walks and playing on the beach but we had a wonderful time in a fully enclosed toddler proof environment. There were heaps of other children for Ara play with and lots of toys...and luckily an indoor room in which to have as much squealing fun as possibly.

Dave then drove us through the new tunnel which was lovely - the lead up to it heading north that is with all the trees. Ara kept asking if it was going to be dark, which it is not really as there are so many lights.
Dave sent me a text after his drive down last night saying he likes the new road...90mins from our door to Sheida's...great (I'm thinking of the possibly future in needing to get home quick ;-))

Now we are just awaiting the arrival of Kez and friends and the possibility of pippi hunting though it looks very grey and cool again.
